In a report to be released February 1st, the White House will predict a 1.6 trillion dollar budget deficit for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2010. That hole is even deeper than previously believed, according to the estimate by the White House's Office of Management and Budget. That makes the 20 billion President Obama proposes to cut by freezing some spending as very puny. This seems to indicate that the deficit will continue to hover at a level not seen since World War Two, when measured as a percentage of the economy. Last year the government posted a $1.4 trillion deficit.
How can our spending mad President and Democratic Congress expect to pass Health Care, fund Medicare and Social Security let alone reduce the deficits without major spending cuts and higher taxes?
Democrats have never been known as Budget balancers. The Clinton surpluses while welcome were fueled by an economy riding an economic bubble that burst mostly leaving us in the mess we are in now. Being fair, the Republican Congress spent like drunken sailors after gaining power seemingly trying to play catch up with the Dems that brought us years of deficit spending. Neither party did us any favors.
That brings us to the big question, how to get the debt reduced. Try as he might, President Obama can’t spend our way to prosperity. When we have to pay this debt back, the interest alone will eat up any new revenues the economy can produce. We find ourselves in a vicious circle. We need more and more money to pay off the debt while continuing to run the government and provide a defense and services taxpayers paid for. It’s impossible to provide both and still keep the economy on firm ground.
I hope voters will learn to accept the fact that for years into the future, our economy will be stifled and real growth will only be show with accounting tricks that Washington is so famous for.
The only solution is to vote for candidates that promise to go to Washington as Budget cutters then hold them accountable. Despite pleas by politicians, Government can be run as a business and run on a budget. Find those individuals and put them in office before it’s to late.

In The Year 2525
When I was young, in High School, I wondered what it would be like in the 21st Century. In 1969, we had already put a man on the moon. That literally rocked me back on my heels seeing Neil Armstrong take that first step on the moon.
What I saw from that point on wasn’t anything I could imagine. Personal Computers, the Internet, Heart Transplants, Credit Cards, Bar Codes, the list goes on and on. Now as I approach 60, I wonder again what the world will be like by the 22nd Century. Will the world even resemble the World we know now? Will the same countries exist? Will there be airplanes, cars, trains, PC’s? Will humans live past 100 years with interchangeable parts? Will there still be war? Terrorists? Will it be like The Jetson’s with George getting in his flying vehicle and buzzing off to work?
We have come so far in the last half century, what we could accomplish boggles my mind.
There are so many problems the World faces. Border disputes, pollution, ozone, overcrowding, soil depletion, what will the World be like in the 23rd Century?
Will we be fed much like the movie Soylent Green? Co-Inhabited by visitors from another planet like Alien Nation? Will we be ruled by One World Government or possibly even rulers from another planet? Will the Earth even survive the 22nd Century?
We have a scant 90 years till the 22nd Century. In the perspective of the Universe, that’s not even a drop in the bucket or blink of an eye. I wonder if my parents took pause to wonder what kind of world they were leaving for me? I wonder if those politicians that run this country wonder what kind of world they are leaving for their own children. From what we can see, politicians care, for themselves. Most are power hungry thugs that treat this country like it’s their own personal gravy train. The politicians that actually do care are overpowered by the miscreants that run this country.
It’s too bad we can’t give politicians the eyes of a child.

In Defense of Jay Leno
Everyone including The Big 'O" has been bashing Jay Leno. I rise to his defense.
NBC is the real culprit of this disaster. The Idea by NBC President Jeff Zuker to keep Coco in the stable and cut costs by putting The Chin on Monday thru Friday at 10PM was insane. Pushing Leno 5 years ago to allow NBC to annoint O'Brien as The Tonight Show was a mistake. Moving both hosts when they were #1 in their time slots was a bigger mistake. How Zucker tried to fix all those mistakes is a complete screw up.
Conan made the right decision refusing to let NBC move the Tonight Show to 12:05. He said the Tonight Show starting at 12:05 is NOT the Tonight Show. He acted with class when he demanded NBC provide severence to his entire staff. He is a good guy and deserved better. But bottom line, he was in 3rd place behing Letterman and Nightline. How long it would have taken him to hit the #1 spot we'll never know.
Leno has been the the star of 2 Tonight Show Dramas. In 1992, Letterman took for granted he would be given the Tonight Show but Guest Host Leno out maneuvered Letterman and NBC awarded Leno the show. NBC had second thoughts and offered Letterman a "chance" to take over the Tonight Show when it looked like Leno was faltering. Dave decided to go to CBS and the rest of history.
Now we rocket to the present: Conan is free to move to Fox, with 32 million as a lovely parting gift and made NBC take care of his staff. Leno goes back to the Tonight Show and this will eventually all blow over.
Here is the bottom line. Conan's Tonight Show didn't get the numbers. Leno's show was in the dumper. NBC affiliates complained about his lead in to their 11:00PM Newscasts. Leno gets cancelled. Conan refuses to move the Tonight Show to 12:05. NBC needs a solution. Bring Leno back. They do. He was #1 before, he can do it again. Bye Bye Conan.
Conan O'Brien got screwed. No doubt. Leno didn't do it. NBC did. They called all the shots and in the process, shot themselves in the foot, AGAIN. They learned nothing from the 1992 Tonight Show debacle. Jay Leno did. Want a villan, start making your Jeff Zuker Voodo Dolls.
Good Luck Conan. You'll do fine at Fox.

Are We Ready?
The World, this big blue marble we live on is more dangerous as it’s ever been. The list continues to grow. North Korea, Iran, actually the entire Middle East. Argentina is ruled by that Nut job Hugo Chavez. But besides all of that, no one is talking about the real threat on the horizon.
China is becoming or has become an economic giant. The Chinese have let Hong Kong continue its Capitalist ways and our trade deficit with them is so out of balance, the money flows into China like the broken levies in New Orleans.
They are building their Military at a disturbing rate. Building new Ships, developing new ICBM’s and importing their technology to terrorist states. They refuse to reign in their client state North Korea which continues to increase their development of long range missiles to deliver the nuclear warheads they are building.
Russia, under Vladimir Putin has just introduced a new jet fighter that will be the equivalent of our F-22 . It has always been his goal to return Russia to the Superpower it once was. Russia has the funds from oil revenues to build them into a Superpower once again. Don’t forget Putin is an old KGB operative. He didn’t make himself Prime Minister for nothing.
There is a new Cold War just around the corner. In the Far East, Taiwan and South Korea even Japan come into play. In Europe, Poland, Czech Republic, every former country that broke away from the Soviet Union could be in jeopardy.
With the ongoing War on Terror, are we prepared to challenge China or Russia when they decide it’s time to right old wrongs? China wants Taiwan back. Russia wants its traditional buffer countries back to counter NATO countries on its border.
This story is neglected by the media. We have to be aware of the threat that’s coming. Is America ready to step up? Are we prepared for this? Are our leaders ready to do what’s necessary to protect the world from new threats of aggression?
Are we ready?

What's up in 2010
I haven't posted for awhile. With the Holidays and my Wife's surgery I have been extremely busy. I also wanted time to look at 2010 and launch a few predictions....
1. Health Care will be passed without Republican support. This will cause a voter backlash in the Mid-Term Elections and the biggest victim will be Harry Reid of Nevada but the Republicans will not regain control of Congress.
2. Iran will become a Nuclear Power this year. This will cause great consternation in Israel. President Obama will be ineffective in restraining Isreal and they could attack known Nuclear sites.
3. The National Media will turn on the Obama Administration. The lack of Press Conferences, botched Terrorist policies and seeming incompetence will cause Media Outlets to examine the Obama Administration much more closely.
4. The Republicans will start the Presidential Election Cycle. The main focus will be on Sarah Palin, Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney. None of these candidates will eventually win the nomination.
5. There will be at least one successful Terrorist attack in this country. Obama's handling of the Christmas Day attempted "Underwear" Bombing will embolden Muslim fanatics.
6. Conan O'Brian will jump to Fox for a late night talk show. Leno returns to the Tonight show.
7. The Cincinnati Reds will have a winning record but fall short of Management expectations and Dusty Baker will be fired at the end of the season.
8. Ford will prosper, GM will survive but Chrysler will fold. The Jeep brand will be the only survivor. The Ford Focus will break sales records.
9. Hugo Chavez will survive an assination attempt and will blame the CIA. President Obama will deny this but Chavez will continue in office and strengthen his ties with China.
10. Radio audiences will continue to decline as more and more listeners move to Satellite and I-Pods.
Those are some of things I see happening. I could be right or wrong but that's the fun of having an opinion. Have a good 2010.
